How Do Water Softeners Work?

What harm can Hard Water do?

Hard water is the leading cause of household plumbing and water-using appliance failure.  Our water softeners have all the high efficiency features needed for softening the extreme hardness of Central Texas: Up Flow Regeneration, Precision Brining, Quick Soft Water Recharge, Automatic Backwash Override and Automatic System Refresh – Saves Water 64%, Saves Salt 75% and the longest industry warranty.

When water is referred to as ‘hard’ this simply means, that it contains more dissolved minerals (calcium and magnesium) than pure water. The degree of hardness of the water increases, when more calcium and magnesium is present, which we know is high in the Hill Country area of Texas.  Any level over 3 gpg is considered hard, locally we range from 22-130 gpg (Extremely Hard)!

A water softener is a whole-house filtration system that removes hardness-causing calcium and magnesium minerals from your water through a process called ion exchange. Hard water can wreak havoc on your home or business. Scale builds up in your pipes, clogging them and decreasing water pressure. Scale dramatically shortens the lifespan of appliances like dishwashers, coffee makers and ice machines.  Hard water can void the warranty on Tankless hot water heaters.
